A Part of Reykjavík’s Story
Kirkjuhvoll, home to Kvosin Hotel, has stood on Austurvöllur since 1901 quietly witnessing Reykjavík grow and evolve around it. Over time, it has welcomed residents, businesses, and visitors, always adapting to the rhythm of the city.
One of Reykjavík’s earliest multi-family buildings, it was also among the first to introduce central heating marking a shift toward modern living in the capital. Through the years, its spaces have housed restaurants, first breweries in Iceland, travel services, and medical practices, each adding to its layered history.
Carefully restored in 2013, Kirkjuhvoll retains its original character while offering a refined setting for today’s traveler.
At Hotel Kvosin, this sense of history remains part of the experience an authentic stay shaped by place, time, and quiet continuity.
